MegaFon to apply for Iran licence

Russian cellco MegaFon intends to bid for Iran’s fourth national mobile licence when it becomes available, following the opening of a branch office in Tehran (reported in CommsUpdate yesterday). The Iranian government is expected to offer a new mobile licence later this year, with the new licensee competing with established operators TCI, MTN Irancell and Taliya.
