Malawi’s newly authorised fixed line provider Access Communications has proposed to deploy 80,000 telephone lines to subscribers in the next five years. Access revealed earlier in the week that it would be investing USD56 million over the 15-year duration of its licence. In the first year, the new telco expects to install around 20,000 new lines, with work scheduled to begin in three months’ time. Access Communications is owned by four companies; Gestetner (23.03%), Dynamic Communications (25.97%), Fags Investment (27%) and Voicecom Investments (20%).
