Cellular operators to adopt 10-point service code
A group of 22 of the largest US mobile operators have signed up to a voluntary code of principles aimed at bolstering customer satisfaction, while attempting to stave off the threat of government regulatory intervention. The trade group which represents the carriers, the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association, formulated the plan which is designed to improve customer access, awareness and understanding of the small print and their rights. The new code would also allow customers to terminate their contracts in the event of any ‘major changes in the terms of service’. The news of the voluntary code comes a week before Californian state regulators meet to consider a consumer bill of rights which would apply to fixed and mobile operators.
