BT said to have withdrawn from Nitel partnership

According to local reports, BT has pulled out as technical partner to Nitel. A source close to the Nigerian telco revealed that Transcorp, owner of 51% of Nitel, lacks funds to keep the company running. 'BT has left. They spent a lot of time trying to find working capital instead of turning the company around,' said a source close to Nitel, on condition of anonymity. The British telco’s withdrawal means that Etisalat is now Nitel’s sole technical partner.
