TCI hits 15m mobile subs

Iran’s largest cellular operator, Mobile Communications Company of Iran (MCI), a subsidiary of state-owned fixed line telco TCI, says it has reached the 15 million subscriber mark and mobile penetration now stands at around 21%. The country’s two other national GSM operators, Taliya and MTN Irancell, both claim around 450,000 customers. Local news portal Taliya News says TCI’s PR manager Davoud Zare’ian expects cellular penetration to reach 30% by the end of this year.
