Huawei deploys core mobile network equipment on KPN network

Chinese manufacturer Huawei Technologies says it has installed circuit and packet switched network equipment on KPN Mobile’s network. Huawei’s mobile softswitch solution will enable the cellco to increase capacity on the core network and is being billed as the first commercial deployment of all-IP mobile softswitch network architecture in Europe. The Chinese vendor’s high-capacity 2G/3G SGSN is carrying KPN Mobile’s 2G PS traffic, while 3G traffic is scheduled to be migrated to the new platform within the next few months.
