DSL and wireless boosts BellSouth

BellSouth has reported a 2.9% increase in consolidated third-quarter revenues from continuing operations to USD5.2billion, with net income rising 29.6% to USD1.06 billion. Results were boosted by a strong performance at its broadband internet division and its Cingular Wireless subsidiary. BellSouth added 175,000 high speed internet subscribers in the three months to end-September to take its total base to 3.4 million, while Cingular saw customer numbers increase by 1.4 million to 58.7 million.
