Verizon’s public safety plans

Verizon Wireless has published plans to roll out a nationwide public safety wireless network which will operate in the 700MHz band. RCR Wireless News reports that Verizon intends to use 12MHz of the promised spectrum in that band to offer a national network for the use of emergency services. A rival consortium, Cyren Call, has submitted its own plan for a public safety network, but this proposes using spectrum allocated for commercial services.
