Kyivstar breaks through 16 million barrier

Kyivstar has announced that its subscriber base stood at more than 16 million at the end of June 2006, a 14.9% rise since the start of the year. Of the total, 93% are pre-paid customers. The Telenor-backed cellco is the largest in Ukraine with an approximate 46% market share, just ahead of the 44% claimed by MTS-owned UMC.
