Qualcomm reports bumper quarter

US-based equipment manufacturer Qualcomm has reported a 34% jump in second quarter revenues to USD1.83 billion. Net income for the three month period to 26 March was up 11% to USD593 million. The firm has attributed the positive results to improved CDMA handset shipments and record demand for its chipsets. Qualcomm forecasts that it will ship between 62 million and 64 million CDMA and W-CDMA mobile handsets in the current quarter, while shipments of its Mobile Station Modem (MSM) chipsets will surpass 50 million.
