KPN given the green light for Nozema acquisition

The Netherlands Mergers and Monopolies Authority (NMa) has approved KPN’s takeover of Dutch radio and TV broadcaster Nozema, on condition that the PTO sells a portion of the latter’s transmission masts. KPN is paying EUR75 million for the company to develop into a provider of different media such as high speed internet access and IPTV. Through Nozema, it hopes to offer digital television via ether throughout the Netherlands. Nozema owns a 40% stake in digital TV provider Digitenne, while KPN owns a further 40%, lifting its effective holding to 80%.
