Web Developer

We’re looking for a web developer with strong skills in Ruby (or other object-oriented languages), web standards-compliant HTML and CSS, Javascript (using frameworks like Prototype), and SQL. Ideally, you’d also be comfortable with behavior/test driven development, version control systems (especially Subversion and Mercurial), and Unix environments (Mac OS X and Linux).

We’re primarily Macintosh users (with a few Windows and Linux) working in a small, flexible team at TeleGeography—a leading telecom research firm known for its data-driven research and telecom maps. The Systems team is responsible for creating the applications that capture, analyze and publish telecom data as online reports and databases.

Our biggest project, in which you would play a key role, is the development of an in-house content management system by extending the Rails-based Radiant CMS. The goal is to deliver a robust system that gives TeleGeography’s Research team the independence and flexibility to produce content with little help from the Systems team.

Other projects include a redesign of our customer-facing website, workflow automation tasks using Ruby based tools, and geo-spatial map projects using open-source software.

TeleGeography offers a competitive salary, great benefits, an outstanding K Street location, and an environment focused on results and quality in a casual atmosphere. If this sounds like the place for you, please send us your resume and cover letter (PDF, PS, or text preferred) to recruitment@telegeography.com.

No phone calls, please.
